The Upper Keys Sailing Club has an active racing calendar for one design, PHRF, and Portsmouth Fleets, in addition to cruising and daysailing activites. Races are FREE for members and non-members are charged $10. If you'd like to join a race, just show up before the skippers' meeting!

The Upper Keys Sailing Club has several traditional regattas and some newer one-design regattas that have been added to our calendar.

Both PHRF and Portsmouth races are featured throughout the year.

Every race needs race committee! Our 2011-2012 race committee consists of Chair Sarah Hoover, who is looking for assistants.

Above, Dennis Kahler and Chico make sure that the anchor is set properly on the committee boat. Chico, along with his humans Dennis and Sara, recently received The Helm Award for extraordinary Race Committee Service.

PHRFPHRF Fleets

Keelboats can compete in many one or two-day PHRF regattas. There are about a dozen bayside and oceanside races held annually. The Club has its own handicapper, who follows the PHRF-SouthEast Florida system. Members, you can access your boat's PHRF handicap over in the members' only section of the website. For details on your boat's PHRF handicap, contact Fleet Captain Chip Short or Club Handicapper Joe Worley.

PortsmouthPortsmouth Fleets

The Club is home to a variety of small boats, with a large and active Hobie Wave fleet in addition to sunfish, lasers, JY-15s, Force Fives, a Mutineer and a Flying Fish. These active small-boat racers hold seasonal racing series, with trophies awarded to series winners. The club also hosts regional and national races. The racing calendar includes one-design races and mixed small-boat races under the Portsmouth handicap system.
