This weekend's Labor Day Regatta will include Portsmouth races on Saturday and PHRF Races on Sunday. Skippers meetings and first flags are at 1 and 2pm, both days. On Sunday, racing will be followed a barbecue (dogs, burgers, potato salad, etc) and a special musical tribute to the Caribbean soul of Jimmy Buffett by Capt'n Jack.
For an unsurpassed meatloaf experience, members and their guests should plan on having "Meatloaf by Tommy" at TGIF great eats for $6 per person on Friday, Sept 10, at 7pm. To become a future TGIF great eats chef, members should contact Sharon Berry.
The Fall Portsmouth Series continues with Race #2 on Saturday, Sept 18, and Race #3 on Saturday, Oct 2. Skippers meetings are at noon and first flags are at 1pm, both days.
The new Just for the Halibut PHRF race will have a skippers meeting at noon and first flag at 1pm on Sunday, Sept 26.
All club sponsored races are open to the public. Anyone who would like to enter a boat should call the club at (305) 451-9972. Race Committee and chase boat crew are needed each club race. Members who would like to serve should contact Barb Short, Kim Hamilton or Debbi Lloyd.
In last Sunday's Fall Portsmouth Series Race #1, Jim Signor on a Flying Scot finished first in the mono hull fleet. Dominic Marsden on a Laser was second and Ginette Hughes on a Mutineer was third. In the multi hull fleet, Leah White was first, Dave White was second and Inger Hansen was third. All sailed Hobe Waves. Thanks go to Race Committee members Sharon Berry, Bob Brown, John Bliss and Pat McLaughlin.
Skippers who would like to have their boat reviewed for additional PHRF points because of "non standard" cruising equipment such as air conditioning, refrigerator or gen set, should contact Joe Worley.
Anyone who would like to know more about club activities and possibly apply for membership is invited to stop by the club at 100 Ocean Bay Drive (mile marker 100, bayside) for TGIF any Friday starting at 6:30pm.
