This weekend's Marlin Cup oceanside PHRF races, sponsored by the Seafarer Resort, will have a skippers meeting at 7pm Friday. Courses and start times for the races on Saturday and Sunday will be announced at the skippers meeting. Thanks go to Sara Kahler for the free pizza party for racers and members starting at 7pm on Saturday. The Marlin Cup winner will be announced at the club following racing on Sunday.
The Glander Cup oceanside PHRF races, sponsored by Key Largo Realty, will be held on Mar 20 and 21. A skippers meeting will start at 7pm on Friday, Mar 19. Courses and start times will be announced at the skippers meeting. A combined Marlin and Glander Cup Dinner will start at 7pm on Saturday, Mar 20. The menu includes smoked beef brisket, French fries, BBQ beans, Caesar salad and dessert by Lindsey for $12 per person. Use the signup sheet, call the club or send an email to dockmasters@upperkeyssailingclub.com to make reservations. Kitchen crew volunteers should contact Rear Commodore Bill Ellis. The winner of the Glander Cup winner will be announced at the club following racing on Sunday.
A General Membership Meeting and trophy presentation will be held on Friday, Mar 26. A covered dish dinner begins at 7pm and the meeting starts at 8pm.
The President's Cup bayside ladies PHRF races will be run on Saturday, April 3. Stand by for a complete agenda of President's Cup activities including times of skippers meeting and first flag.
All club sponsored races are open to the public. Anyone who would like to enter a boat should call the club at (305) 451-9972. Any member who would like to serve on Race Committee should contact Ginette Hughes or Barb Short.
Easter Brunch will be served from 11am to 1pm on Sunday, April 4. The Menu includes cheese omelets, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and assorted other buffet and made to order favorites for $12 per person.
The Mark Sorensen Youth Sailing Program will hold its annual Open House on Sunday, April 18, from noon to 4pm. Youth ages 8 to 17 and their parents are invited to the club to learn about junior sailing activities and how they can become part of the fun. Refreshments will be served and visitors will have the opportunity to try dinghy sailing, weather permitting. For more information about the MSYSP call Linda Munshower at (305) 304-0036.
Anyone who would like to learn more about club activities and possibly apply for membership is invited to stop by the club (mile marker 100, bayside) for TGIF any Friday starting at 6pm. Membership information can also be obtained by calling Vice Commodore Mary Lou Chambers at (305) 342-6332.
